Reverse Mission Trip

“It’s a world of laughter, a world of tears
It’s a world of hopes and a world of fears
There’s so much that we share that it’s time we’re aware
It’s a small world after all.”

Robert and Richard Sherman said it best in 1965 when they pinned the words to, “It’s A Small World,” the single most performed and most translated piece of music on the earth. That song reminds me of a story. When my wife and I got married we went to Maui for our honeymoon. Driving from
the airport to our hotel I saw Lahaina Baptist Church. I looked over at my wife and said, “We should go to church there next Sunday. I think it would be cool to experience a church service in Hawaii.” We both agreed, and our last day on the island happened to be a Sunday. So, we checked out of our hotel and went to that church. After the service, the church invited all the visitors to enjoy some fresh pineapple juice, so we did. While speaking with the pastor, we found out that he was an interim pastor there and that their former pastor moved to Nashville (which is where we live) to work at Life Way Christian Resources. RMTflyerpage1Small World we thought. Then when we got back home, I was telling a lady at our church that story and she said, “That man that was the pastor at that church was my Dad.” The truth is, it really is a small world we live in. It blows my mind how we are all connected in some way or another, especially when it comes to
the body of Christ.

What about you? How small is your world? Have you ever had an experience like mine? What if I told you that we have an opportunity here at Small World to make this giant world we live in small? Well, we do! On September 18th – October 1st we are having what we are calling our Reverse Mission Trip. We are reversing the trip and bringing the mission field here to Nashville, TN. September 18th – October 1st, we are bringing 10 orphan children from one of our partnership orphanages in China here for a 2 week trip in hopes that they will find their forever families. Can you imagine the impact this trip could have on these little ones? The community is behind us, and we are trying desperately to get as many people involved as we can for this great event. Here are just a few things we already have planned:

  • Makeovers at Tangles in Mt Juliet
  • Dental cleanings and checkups by Dr. Larry LaFever at Providence Dental Care
  • Full medical physicals conducted by a local pediatrician, Dr. Paul Heil
  • Special meeting with the Mayor of Mt. Juliet

Best of all, families considering adoption will have an opportunity to meet the children, get to know them, and possibly pursue adopting one of these beautiful children! Pre-approved Small World families may host as many as 2 children. If they sponsor a child(ren)’s travel, these expenses will be deducted from their cost of adoption.

HOW CAN I HELP?

Glad you asked, whether you’re interested in adopting or not, there are several ways YOU can join our reverse mission:

  • Lodging (for those children who don’t get hosted)
  • Meal prep
  • Transportation
  • Activities
  • Host/Sponsor
  • Donate!!!

We are a non-profit organization and all donations are tax-deductible. For more information please contact us at (615)754-6540 or email us at wade@smallworldadoption.com
